I bought my domain name at Network Solutions...
Network Solutions does not sell domain names - they only register domain names. At one time Network Solutions was the only place you could go to register a domain name. That is no longer the case.
Network Solutions doesn't sell domain names?
No! Network Solutions only registers domain names. Once the domain name is registered, you own the right to use that domain name exclusively as long as you keep the domain name registration current by paying the annual renewal fee to an approved domain name Registrar. If the domain name is registered to you, in a sense you own the domain name... But in reality what you actually own is the license to exclusively use that domain name.
Rocky Mtn. Web sells domain names?
No! Rocky Mtn. Web, like Network Solutions, can only register domain names.
Rocky Mtn. Web is the same as Network Solutions?
No! Rocky Mtn. Web and Network Solutions are two different companies, which are in no way connected. However, they both provide the same service - registering domain names. Either one can register your right to exclusively use your domain name. Rocky Mtn. Web charges 60% less than Network Solutions to perform the same service.
There is more than one place I can go to register a domain name?
Yes! There are a number of ICANN approved domain name registrars. Any one of them can register your domain name. ICANN is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, which is responsible for the management of the Internet domain name system. Rocky Mtn. Web uses ICANN approved software to register your domain name. And ICANN allows you to choose, or to transfer an already existing and registered Domain Name to any ICANN approved domain name registrar.
I can transfer my Domain name from one Registrar to another?
Yes! If you are unsatisfied with your present domain name Registrar for any reason, be it poor service, high prices, general attitude problems, or whatever, ICANN allows you to transfer your domain name (registration) to any Registrar you choose.
How much does it cost?
Rocky Mtn. Web does not charge you for transferring your domain name. We consider it a privilege to be your Registrar, and will strive to provide you with a lifetime of fast, efficient and friendly registration service. We do ask that you extend the length of your existing registration by at least 1 year during transfer process. That way you will NOT lose any time, or shorten your registration period in any way. For example: if your current domain name registration with your current registrar will expire in 3 months from now, adding 1 year in the transfer process will extend your registration period to 1 year and 3 months from now. You will never suffer an loss of time or money in transferring your domain name to Rocky Mtn. Web.
How do I transfer a domain name?
To transfer a domain name, you must complete the transfer request
